International conference on Monitoring Condition in London

On the 13-16th of June 2017 the First World Congress on Condition Monitoring was held at the ILEC Conference Center in London. It was the continuation of previous international conference Monitoring Condition. The conference was attended by Prof Tomasz Gałka, director of the Institute of Power Engineering. He presented the paper On the problem of detecting abrupt changes in the time histories of diagnostic symptoms.

EERA Summer Strategy Meeting in Vienna

EERA (European Energy Research Alliance) Summer Strategy Meeting was held on 30-31 May 2017 at the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Vienna (Austria). The meeting was attended by members of EERA Executive Committee, personal representatives to the Executive Committee, co-ordinators of EERA Joint Research Programs and representatives of the European Commission. On behalf of the Institute of Power Engineering, the meeting was attended by prof. Tomasz Gałka, director of IEn, member of the EERA Executive Committee and Andrzej Sławiński (PhD), representative of the director of international cooperation, personal representative.

Marcin Lizer was granted a PhD

Marcin Lizer, a researcher from the Electric Power Engineering Automation Laboratory, was granted a doctoral degree in technical sciences. Public defense of his dissertation titled " "Impedance backup protection of power generation units during external disturbances" was held on the 10th of May 2017 in the Institute of Power Engineering in Warsaw. The supervisor of the work was Prof. Zbigniew Lubosny (Gdansk University of Technology), and reviewers Prof. Désiré Dauphin Rasolomampionon (Warsaw University of Technology) and Prof. Eugeniusz Rosolowski (Wroclaw University of Technology).

New Department in the Institute of Power Engineering

According to the Disposition of the Director of the Institute of Power Engineering No. 4/2017 of April 27, 2017, the Department of High-Temperature Electrochemistry Processes (CPE) was established in IEn's Thermal Division. The head of the Department is Jakub Kupecki (PhD).

The Institute of Power Engineering re-elected to the Executive Committee of EERA

The Institute of Power Engineering was elected to the Executive Committee of European Energy Research Alliance EERA for another two-year term. The composition of the new EERA Executive Committee was approved at EERA General Assembly on the 3rd of May 2017 in Brussels.

The second workshop of CERMAT2 project

On the 7th of April 2017 at Grand Hotel in Rzeszów the second workshop of CERMAT2 project entitled "Manufacturing technologies, properties and applications of advanced structural ceramic materials" took place. It was organized by Ceramic Department CEREL of Institute of Power Engineering. Scientists from Ceramic Department CEREL and Thermal Processes Department were authors and co-authors of six presentations given during this workshop.

TOTeM meeting and VULKANO project

On the 14-15th of March 2017 delegates from the Institute of Power Engineering (IEn) took part in the 44th IFRF’s ‘Topic-Orientated Technical Meeting’ (TOTeM). The meeting was jointly organised by the Gas- und Wärme-Institut Essen e. V. (GWI) and IFRF, and hosted by GWI at its facilities in Essen, Germany. TOTeM 44 focused on the subject of ‘Gaseous fuels for industry and power generation: challenges and opportunities’.

SOFC exhibition in the Museum of Technology and Industry in Warsaw

On the 22nd of February 2017 in the Museum of Technology and Industry in Warsaw there was inaugurated the exhibition "SOFC fuel cells - an innovative technology of clean energy production". The organizer of the exhibition was the Institute of Power Engineering and the Museum of Technology and Industry. The exhibition presented achievements of the Institute of Power Engineering in the field of SOFC cells, in particular of Fuel Cells Laboratory, Thermal Processes Department (CPC) in Warsaw and Department of Ceramics CEREL in Boguchwała, near Rzeszow.

Bulletin „Research works of the Institute of Power Engineering” 1/2017 Energetyka magazine

In February issue of „Energetyka” magazine there has been included the first bulletin entitled „Research works of the Institute of Power Engineering”. There are three articles from IEn's Thermal Technology Branch ITC in Łódź, Heating and Sanitary Technology Branch in Radom and Thermal Processes Department in Warsaw.
