Marcin Błesznowski was granted a PhD

2018 / 03 / 28

Marcin Błesznowski, researcher from Department of Hightemperature Electrochemical Processes (CPE) was granted a PhD with honors. The public defense of his doctoral thesis entitledThermodynamics and transport processes in fuel cells” took place on the 27th of March 2018 at the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology. The work was supervised by prof. Stanisław Sieniutycz, and reviewed by Paulina Pianko-Oprych (PhD) (Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering, West Pomeranian University Of Technology Szczecin) and prof. Janusz Badur (Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery Polish Academy of Sciences, Gdańsk).

Dissertation concerned Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC) which electrochemical reaction is used to generate heat and electricity. The goal of this work was to develop procedures and numerical tools for optimizing the construction and lifetime of the SOFC stack. The power of SOFC stack can be customized by changing the number of fuel cells. In the work, definition of a scientific problem, which supports the main aim of research, was preceded by literature review. Then solution methods or optimization procedures were proposed.
