Description

The goal of the project is to investigate and elaborate electrochemical, mass-heat transport and
material science approaches for effective implementation of the solid-fuel depolarization of the anode of planar Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells (SOEC). Such a type of SOECs is similar in design to Anode-Supported Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC), however, air electrodes of AS-SOFC (cathodes) and oxygen electrodes of SOEC (anodes) operate in opposite modes in terms of the electrochemistry. Hypothesis of project: Anodic compartment of the SOEC may be elaborated in a manner, which allows sustainable supply of solid depolarizer and efficiently reduce the anodic overpotential by fine tailoring of the electrode layer and tuning of the charge-, mass- and heat- transfer processes in zone of the electrochemical reactions.
