Description

Development of a high-efficiency, large-scale, integrated system for hydrogen production using energy from renewable sources (RES) with the capability of hydrogen storage. The project includes: 1. Feasibility study; 2. Development and construction of a prototype co-generative system based on novelties related to design and materials which will be implemented in prototype (400 kW); 3. Development and construction of a demonstrator – the electrolysis unit with the power of at least 5 MW. The integrated system will include H2 storage. The highly-integrated modular electrolyzer with SOE based on the design developed at IEN will demonstrate energy demand 38-42 kWh/kg H2 and will be ready for commercialization. Functionality of the system makes it possible to power the electrolyzer with intermittent RES, and includes a dedicated design which makes results of the project applicable in large, multimegawatt scale for the production of zero- and low-carbon fuels using local RES.
