Presentation and public defense of doctoral dissertation entitled „Interactions between HVDC links with particular focus on island operation of a power system” took place on the 20th of April at the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering of Politechnika Gdańska.
As part of the work, a doctoral student developed a methodology for analyzing the interactions that may occur between thyristor (LCC HVDC) and transistor (VSC HVDC) DC transmission systems, identified the factors influencing the intensity of interactions and indicated the elements with the greatest share in interactions. The topic of the work corresponds very well to the current challenges of power systems, including the National Power System in the context of plans to launch further DC systems.
The commission of the doctoral thesis appreciated the high merits of the thesis by awarding it a distinction.
The doctor works in the System Analysis Team at the Institute of Power Engineering, Gdańsk Branch, where the main subjects of his professional interests are modeling and analyzing the cooperation of HVDC systems with power systems. He carried out his doctoral thesis in extramural mode.
