What is the Department of Strategy and System Development?

The Department of Strategy and System Development operates within the Gdansk department of the Institute of Power Engineering - National Research Institute. It focuses its activities on issues related to long-term power system planning, in particular power balance modelling, power system flexibility, generation and control resource adequacy planning, as well as investment feasibility studies.

What does the Department of Strategy and System Development do?

The Department's remit covers the technical, formal-legal and economic layers. The Department also offers the development of a model of the energy cluster control system in the technical aspect. The work can include the development of models of the individual components of the energy system included in the cluster, such as distributed RES sources, energy storage, vehicle charging stations or regulated loads. Once configured and parameterised, the models allow for testing and verification of the correctness of algorithms and methods of controlling the operation of the energy cluster and its impact on the operation of the distribution system operator (DSO) network to which it is connected.
