What is the Gdansk Branch?
The Gdańsk Branch is the largest field facility of the Institute of Power Engineering - National Research Institute, employing over 100 people. Our greatest potential is an experienced staff of diversified specialisation. The Gdańsk Branch has a modern laboratory base, equipped, inter alia, with a real-time RTSD simulator and systems for testing advanced measurement and automation solutions for the power system.
The branch has a wide range of laboratory facilities such as electrical machines, power hydraulics and signal transmitters coupled to the 15 kV network.
The Gdansk Branch of the Institute of Power Engineering - National Research Institute cooperates with a number of institutions of the Polish power sector and also takes an active part in the work of the European Energy Research Alliance by participating in two joint research programmes Joint Programme on Smart Grids, as a Full Member, and Joint Programme on Wind Energy, as an Associate Member, with the German Fraunhofer Institute IWES.
The Branch consists of 5 departments:
- Department of Control, Information and Communications (OGA);
- Department of Automation and System Analysis (OGC) - with two Divisions: Automation and System Analysis;
- Department of Electrohydraulic Devices (OGH);
- Department of Power System Automation (OGM);
- Department of Strategy and System Development (OGS).
Gdańsk Branch cooperates with a number of institutions of the whole Polish energy sector. It also participates in works conducted by the European Energy Research Alliance.
