The High Power Department specializes in conducting research and development work and performing tests, measurements and expert opinions on power equipment.

What does the High Power Department do?

As part of our laboratory offerings, we conduct, among other things: Testing of medium- and low-voltage switchgear, as well as cable connectors and prefabricated transformer stations.

• Tests of MV and LV switches.
• Short-circuit strength tests of power equipment
• Tests of resistance to electric arc.
• Measurement of incomplete discharge and radio interference.
• Mechanical and dirt tests of insulators.
• Surge testing of lightning and switching voltage and alternating voltage.
• Periodic testing of health and safety equipment.

We also offer:

• Consultation on high voltage issues.
• Training of fitters for live work up to 400 kV.

The High Power Department employs qualified personnel with relevant, long-standing experience in the field of testing performed. Employees of the Department are members of PKN Technical Committee No. 74 on High Voltage Switchgear and Control Equipment, PKN Committee No. 77 on Low Voltage Switchgear and Control Equipment, PKN Technical Committee No. 76 on Insulators, PKN Technical Committee No. 68 on High Voltage Measurement and Testing, and the IEC Technical Committee on Insulators for overhead lines. The personnel of the laboratories, which are part of the Department, participate in the development of standards and other standardization documents.
