On October 7-8, in Gdynia, the 7th Polish Conference on Hydrogen Energy Technology PCHET took place, and the Institute of Power Engineering - National Research Institute had the pleasure of being co-organizer.

During the two days of the event, a number of interesting panel discussions were held to look at the current situation of hydrogen technologies, both in the domestic and international markets. The invited experts also had the opportunity to talk about trends and future forecasts expected in this area. The culmination of the first day of the event was a networking dinner, during which, already in less formal circumstances, conference participants could exchange their experiences in the field of hydrogen technologies.

The event also included the presentation of the Prof. W.H. Nernst Scientific Awards, initiated by the Institute of Power Engineering - National Research Institute and Warsaw University of Technology.

By the decision of the Nernst Award Chapter, deliberating under the chairmanship of Prof. Konrad Świerczek, from the Department of Energy and Fuels, AGH University of Science and Technology, the winners of this year's competition were:

  • in the “Scientific Achievement” category, Jacek Ryl, Ph.D., for his work “Modern measurement tools and materials for electrochemical sensors.”
  • In the “Practical Achievement” category, Aliaksandr Martsinchyk, M.Sc., for a series of works on the development and preliminary characterization of a new type of high-temperature fuel cell with oxygen ion conductivity - the Borane Fuel Cell;
  • in the category “Technical Achievement”, Dr. Krystian Machaj, Eng. for his project on the development of the OpenFuelCell numerical model with research on the use of ammonia in solid-oxide fuel cells.

Many thanks to the main organizers of the event - the Pomeranian Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Hydrogen Technology Cluster for the opportunity to cooperate on this unique conference.
