On November 21, 2018, the 5th International Scientific Conference on Decisions in emergency situations took place. The conference was organized by Tadeusz Kościuszko Land Forces Military Academy in Wrocław and one of five co-organizers - the Institute of Power Engineering. Among the members of the Scientific and Program Committee of the Conference were Tomasz Gałka (PhD), director of the Institute of Power Engineering and prof. Jacek Wańkowicz, director's scientific advisor.

The aim of the conference was to present and disseminate research results, exchange views and experiences regarding decision making in conditions of uncertainty and risk, terrorist, technical and personal threats. Participants were analyzing methods of coping with such perils in order to strengthen security of the region.
