JOB DESCRIPTION
The position is offered within the project “Alternative to alloying: advanced protective coatings for low-cost alloys for solid oxide cell stack technology” which received funding from the National Science Center Poland (NCN) in frame of OPUS-25 call. The project is led by Dr hab. Yevgeniy Naumovich and is carried out at Department of High Temperature Electrochemical Processes IEN-PIB with collaboration with Gdansk University of Technology (GUT).
Post-doctoral researcher will be directly involved in following project’s research task:
Long-term and dual-atmosphere tests of the ferritic steels with novel protective coating (WP3), Long term tests of the short stack with novel interconnects (WP5), and co-work with GUT team in task In depth post-mortem analysis of the samples (WP6). Individual work will be oriented in operando testing of developed layers (layers at the operation condition - stack testing) and post-mortem analysis, as well as continuous improvement and fine-tuning of the coating preparation on full-size, specially designed interconnectors for SOC stack based on the IEN-PIB’s design. The responsibility of Post-doc will be the interpretation of the outcomes of long-term and dual-atmosphere tests to define the most promising composition, outline guidelines for modifications, and further adaptation of paste/suspension based on the developed materials. It is expected that Post-doc will be responsible for the supervision of ongoing measurements, data collection, and their post-processing. He/she will analyze gathered data from the theoretical stand-point of view and will assess the statistical quality of collected data. Responsible for post mortem analysis of samples from long-term ASR testing, as well as stack components after electrochemical measurements. Post-doc will actively participate in the preparation of reports, publications, and conference presentations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The workplace is 36 Augustówka Street, 02 981 Warsaw at the Department of High Temperature Electrochemical Processes. The candidate will be part of a research group with ten years of experience in the field of solid oxide cells. The group is supported by funds from national and international research projects, as well as collaboration with industry. Moreover, the team co-works with top-research groups worldwide on topics related to the hydrogen technologies. The laboratories of IEN-PIB’s are equipped with few testing rigs (measurement of single cells and SOC stack) and possesses all the necessary infrastructure to carry out the research in the highest standards.
WHO SHOULD APPLY
- PhD degree in technical science or other fields (power engineering, material engineering, chemistry, applied physics, process engineering or other)) directly related to the scope and methods of the project with the proviso that the obligatory formal criterion for admission to the competition is obtaining a doctoral degree in the year of employment in the project or in the period of 7 years before 1 January of the year of employment in the project – i.e. 15/06/2023.
- Experience from laboratory work related to solid oxide cells (operated at SOFC or SOE mode) is compulsory.
- Candidate for the position has to demonstrate a very good command of English, hands-on experience with experimental techniques of solid state electrochemistry/material science, and be familiar with in operando techniques of high temperature electrochemistry/chemistry.
- Additional requirements include the ability to conduct post-mortem analyses of the samples after ASR and SOC stack testing, based on the eg. SEM/SEM-EDS and/or XRD techniques.
- Experience listed above needs to be proven by publications in journals related to the field of the project (eg.:International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Journal of Power Sources, Solid State Ionics, Materials, Journal of the European Ceramic Society, or similar).
