The Institute of Power Engineering – National Research Institute (IPE-NRI) will host the final Stakeholder Workshop of the SO-FREE project on 28 May 2026 in Warsaw. The event will take place at the IEN-PIB demonstration site, where the innovative SOFC-CHP (Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Combined Heat and Power) system developed within the project is currently being operated and validated under real-life conditions.
Held under the title “Combined Heat and Power in a Changing World: What Solid Oxide Fuel Cells Can Do for Fuel Flexibility and Energy Saving”, the workshop will bring together representatives of the energy and gas sectors, technology developers, researchers, system integrators, certification bodies and public institutions. The meeting will provide an opportunity to exchange knowledge and discuss the role of solid oxide fuel cell technologies in the energy transition and decarbonisation of the gas and energy sectors.
The event will showcase the key achievements of the SO-FREE project, including technical progress and demonstration results obtained during the project implementation. Particular attention will be given to the future integration of fuel-flexible SOFC technologies with modern low-emission energy systems and the developing green gas infrastructure.
The workshop will also serve as a platform for dialogue between industry representatives, component manufacturers, technology providers, system integrators and public authorities interested in the development of innovative cogeneration technologies.
The SO-FREE project is carried out within an international cooperation framework focused on the development of highly efficient, low-emission energy technologies supporting energy transition and energy security.
