The 6th Edition of the Competition for the Prof. W.H. Nernst Scientific Award for scientific and technical achievements related to electrochemical processes has been decided!

By the decision of the Chapter of the Nernst Award, deliberating under the chairmanship of Prof. Konrad Swierczek, from the Department of Energy and Fuels, AGH University of Science and Technology, the winners of this year's edition were:

  • in the “Scientific Achievement” category, Jacek Ryl, Ph.D., for his work “Modern measurement tools and materials for electrochemical sensors.”
  • In the “Practical Achievement” category, Aliaksandr Martsinchyk, M.Sc., for a series of works on the development and preliminary characterization of a new type of high-temperature fuel cell with oxygen ion conductivity - the Borane Fuel Cell;
  • in the “Technical Achievement” category, Dr. Krystian Machaj, for his project on the development of the OpenFuelCell numerical model together with research on the use of ammonia in solid-oxide fuel cells.

The awards were presented on October 7 during the 7th edition of the Polish Hydrogen Technology Conference PCHET in Gdynia. The winners received statuettes from the hands of Prof. Jakub Kupecki, D.Sc.

The Scientific Awards of the Warsaw University of Technology and the Institute of Power Engineering - National Research Institute are annual individual awards given for significant scientific, technical and practical achievements related to electrochemical processes. The awards are given to Polish researchers or foreigners employed in Poland who are under 50 years of age. The awards are given in 3 categories: scientific achievement, technical achievement and practical applications of electrochemical processes, including implementations. One award may be given in each category.
