W dniach 16-18 lipca 2019 r. w University of Aveiro w Portugalii (UoA) miało miejsce spotkanie kick-off projektu Novel approach to Power-to-Fuel: comprehensive studies of anodic processes in Direct Carbon Solid Oxide Fuel-assisted Electrolysis Cell (DC-SOFEC). Otrzymał on finansowanie ze środków Narodowego Centrum Nauki w ramach 10. konkursu programu HARMONIA. W ramach projektu koordynowanego przez Instytut Energetyki, badane będą procesy zachodzące w części elektrody powietrznej stałotlenkowego elektrolizera wspomaganego paliwem stałym – DC-SOFEC (ang. Direct Carbon Solid Oxide-Fuel Assisted Electrolysis Cell).

Presentation of winners of the 24th Siemens Award Competition took place at Warsaw University of Technology on the 25th of June 2019. Two researchers from IEn's Department of High Temperature Electrochemical Processes were awarded. The 2019 award for the PhD thesis went to Marcin Błesznowski (PhD), and the award for DSc achievement to Prof. Jakub Kupecki.

The Institute of Power Engineering has started the realisation of a new project co-financed by the European Union from the Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020. The project is entitled: Increasing energy efficiency in the building of the Institute of Power Engineering - Research Institute in Warsaw.

On the 6th of June 2019, there was held the 65th Anniversary of the Institute of Power Engineering. More than 250 people took part in the ceremony, which took place in the High Voltage Laboratory Building in Warsaw. We had the pleasure to host representatives of research institutes, universities, energy companies, enterprises and many other institutions cooperating with the Institute of Power Engineering.

IEn's Department of High Temperature Electrochemical Processes hosted the annual meeting of ERA-NET project BIO-CCHP: Advanced biomass CCHP based on gasification, SOFC and cooling machines, which was organised on the 13-14th of May 2019 in Warsaw's IEn premises.

In the April issue of „Energetyka” magazine, there was pubished the first issue of this year's bulletin "Research works of the Institute of Power Engineering". The bulletin contains two articles written by researchers from the Institute (IEn).

In a highly-ranked magazine International Journal of Hydrogen Energy there has been published the article entitled: Numerical analysis of an SOFC stack under loss of oxidant related fault conditions using a dynamic non-adiabatic model. It was prepared by researchers from IEn's Department of High Temperature Electrochemical Processes (HiTEP) Jakub Kupecki (PhD), Konrad Motyliński, Agnieszka Żurawska (PhD), Magdalena Kosiorek and Leszek Ajdys.

In April 2019 there was published the monograph of researcher from IEn's Department of High Temperature Electrochemical Processes Yevgeniy Naumovich entitled: Quantitative description of oxygen non-stoichiometry in mixed ionic and electronic conductors based on a non-ideal solution approach. It's the second issue of IEn's Monographs.
