On the 14th of September 2018 in Warsaw there was organised the ceremonial gala of handing diplomas to scholars of the Polish-American Fulbright Commission in the academic year 2017/2018. During the event, the diploma was received by Jakub Kupecki (PhD) from the Department of Hightemperature Electrochemical Processes (CPE), the Institute of Power Engineering.

In a higly ranked magazine Applied Energy (IF 7.900) there has been published the article entited: Numerical model of planar anode supported solid oxide fuel cell fed with fuel containing H2S operated in direct internal reforming mode (DIR-SOFC). Researchers from the Department of Hightemperature Electrochemical Processes are co-authors of this article: Jakub Kupecki (PhD), Yevgeniy Naumovich (PhD), Marcin Błesznowski (PhD) and Konrad Motyliński.

On the 11-13th of September 2018 in Bielsko-Biała there was organised the International Power Industry Fair ENERGTAB 2018. The Institute of Power Engineering presented its products and services during the Fair.

On the 27th-28th of August 2018 in Gdańsk there was organised a kick-off meeting of IEn's new project. Quest for novel materials for solid oxide cell interconnect coatings is financed by the National Science Centre (NCN) through HARMONIA 9 Programme. Project includes strong collaboration between Gdansk Technical Univeristy in Poland, DTU in Denmark andIEn's Department of High Temperature Electrochemical Processes (HiTEP) in the experimental and numerical activites as well as the validation of novel materials in the stack.

The 2017 e-version of IEn's Annual Report was published at: https://www.ien.com.pl/raport-roczny-2017. The report contains the most important information about the Institute's structure and research units (scope of activities and research methods) and about activities of the Institute in 2017. The report is the latest source of knowledge about the Institute of Power Engineering.

In August 2018 IFSA Publishing issued a monograph entitled Advances in Signal Processing: Reviews. The book includes a chapter Selection of Diagnostic Symptoms for Technical Condition Assessment and Prognosis, written by Tomasz Gałka (PhD), director of the Institute of Power Engineering.

On 4-5 July 2018 VULKANO project partners celebrated the IIIrd General Assembly in Warsaw, Poland. The meeting gathered more than 30 members from the consortium in order to review the general status of the project after 24 months of execution. Along this time, the project has accomplished its objectives according to the working programme, providing consistent results.

On 17-22 June 2018 (Kościelisko, near Zakopane) there was held the Conference entitled: „Progress in Applied Electrical Engineering PAEE-13”. Two researchers from IEn participated in this conference: Maciej Owsiński (EWP) who was co-author of the work about boundary condition type of simulated electric field distribution in MV cable termination and Jacek Karczewski (PhD) (OTC Łódź) who delivered his presentation about testing of power unit control systems using power unit and its simulation model.
