The book entitled „Modeling, Design, Construction, and Operation of Power Generators with Solid Oxide Fuel Cells” was published by Springer and edited by Jakub Kupecki (PhD) head of the Department of High Temperature Electrochemical Processes (HiTEP) at the Institute of Power Engineering. Among authors there are reseearchers from IEn: Marcin Błesznowski (PhD), Konrad Motyliński, Yevgeniy Naumovich (PhD), Marek Skrzypkiewicz, Michał Wierzbicki, Agnieszka Żurawska (PhD), as well as Michał Kawalec, Ryszard Kluczowski (PhD), Mariusz Krauz (PhD) and Adam Świeca (CEREL, Boguchwała).

In a highly-ranked scientific magazine ENERGY (IF 4.520) there was published the article entitled: Analysis of operation of a micro-cogenerator with two solid oxide fuel cells stacks for maintaining neutral water balance concerning micro-cogenerator with SOFC stacks. The article sums up research conducted in the Department of Hightemperature Electrochemical Processes (CPE) in 2016 and 2017 within the statutury work CPC/68/STAT/16. The authors of the publication are reserachers from CPE – Jakub Kupecki (PhD) and Konrad Motyliński.

On the 27th of March 2018 the Institute of Power Engineering signed the agreement on scientific and research cooperation with the National Fuel Cell Research Center (NFCRC). The official signing of the document took place during the conference ICEPAG 2018 - International Colloquium on Environmentally Preferred Advanced Generation organized on the 27-29th of March by the University of California in Irvine, USA. Signatories of the agreement are prof. Scott Samuelsen, director of NFCRC and prof. Tomasz Gałka, director of the Institute of Power Engineering. Coordinators of cooperation are prof. Jack Brouwer and Jakub Kupecki (PhD) who took the post of a visiting professor at NFCRC.

Marcin Błesznowski, researcher from Department of Hightemperature Electrochemical Processes (CPE) was granted a PhD with honors. The public defense of his doctoral thesis entitled „Thermodynamics and transport processes in fuel cells” took place on the 27th of March 2018 at the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology.The work was supervised by prof. Stanisław Sieniutycz, and reviewed by Paulina Pianko-Oprych (PhD) (Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering, West Pomeranian University Of Technology Szczecin) and prof. Janusz Badur (Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery Polish Academy of Sciences, Gdańsk).

In a high ranked magazine International Journal of Hydrogen Energy (IF 3.647) there was published the article entitled Characterization of a circular 80 mm anode supported solid oxide fuel cell (AS-SOFC) with anode support produced using high-pressure injection molding (HPIM), written among others by researchers from the Institute of Power Engineering: Jakub Kupecki (PhD) from CPE and Ryszard Kluczowski (PhD), Mariusz Krauz (PhD), Michał Kawalec, from CEREL in Boguchwala.

Innogy Stoen Operator has launched the first SN / LV station in Warsaw (Bemowo district) where an additional automatic power maintenance system equipped with supercapacitors has been used. This solution was developed at the Prototype Production Branch in Białystok.

On the 16th of February 2018 in the Ministry of Energy in Warsaw, there was signed the cooperation agreement of six research institutes from fuel and energy sector supervised by the Minister of Energy. Participants of the agreement are the Central Mining Institute (Katowice), the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal (Zabrze), the Oil and Gas Institute - PIB (Cracow), KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology (Gliwice), the POLTEGOR Opole Mining Institute (Wrocław) and the Institute of Power Engineering (Warsaw). Minister of Energy Krzysztof Tchórzewski and Deputy Minister Grzegorz Tobiszowski participated in the ceremony of signing the agreement. It was signed by the director of the Institute of Power Engineering, Tomasz Gałka.
