On 17-22 June 2018 (Kościelisko, near Zakopane) there was held the Conference entitled: „Progress in Applied Electrical Engineering PAEE-13”. Two researchers from IEn participated in this conference: Maciej Owsiński (EWP) who was co-author of the work about boundary condition type of simulated electric field distribution in MV cable termination and Jacek Karczewski (PhD) (OTC Łódź) who delivered his presentation about testing of power unit control systems using power unit and its simulation model.

On the 2-4 of July in the Cenrtal Mining Institute in Katowice there was held the Xth conference International Exergy, Energy and Environment Symposium (IEEES-10). Two presentations have been delivered presenting research results in CPE IEn.

In the magazine Ceramic Materials (Vol: 70, Issue: 1, 2018) there was published the article entitled: Synthesis of Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3-δ perovskite-like material by spray pyrolysis method for oxygen separating membranes application, co-authored by Magadalena Gromada (PhD), researcher from IEn's CEREL (Boguchwała). The publication presents results of 2017 statutory work no.OC/01/STAT/17.

In the latest issue of the Journal of Power Technologies (JCR list), an extensive review article was published: Direct carbon, integrated gasification, and deposited carbon solid oxide fuel cells: a patent-based review of technological status. The work is a summary of many years of work carried out at the Institute of Power Engineering as part of the Consortium of Coal Fuel Cells and statutory works. The authors of the publication are Marek Skrzypkiewicz and Szymon Obrębowski (PhD).

In a very higly ranked Journal of the European Ceramic Society there was published the article 3D microstructure-based modelling of the deformation behaviour of ceramic matrix composites, co-authored by Magdalena Gromada (PhD), Ceramic Branch CEREL IEn (Boguchwała, near Rzeszow).

The Institute of Power Engineering was among five research institutes nominated for this year's Kryształowa Brukselka award. This award has been granted since 2001 for successes in the EU Framework Programs for Research and Innovation. It is a special distinction for participation in international research and development projects, innovation and contribution to the development of Polish science and economy. This year's award was a summary of the last 20 years of Poland's participation in the EU Framework Programs.

On 30-31 May 2018, the IFRF2018 Conference "Clean, efficient and safe industrial combustion" was held in Sheffield, UK. During the conference, one could listen to papers on the development of low-emission gas burners, Power-to-gas technology and adding hydrogen to gas networks, modern measurement techniques (based on Laser Induced Phosphorescence), development of oxy-fuel technology, new EC directive for medium combustion plants and issues related to the implementation of CCS technology.
