What is Ceramic Branch (CEREL)?
CEREL Ceramics Branch is one of the four non-Warsaw branches of the Institute of Power Engineering - National Research Institute located in Boguchwała near Rzeszów. CEREL conducts research and development work in the field of technical ceramics and manufactures unique ceramic products for the energy, automotive, metallurgical, chemical, aeronautical, timber and many other industries. The Branch's speciality is precision-machined machine and equipment components manufactured from alumina and zirconium ceramics.
What does CEREL do?
For several years, CEREL has been carrying out advanced research work in the field of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and oxygen membrane technologies. Amongst other things, the CEREL team is working on applications of perovskite materials for the manufacture of oxygen membranes by ink-jet printing.
The CEREL research team is one of the teams of the Institute of Power Engineering - National Research Institute participating in the 7th Framework Programme SENERES project.
The CEREL department is made up of two divisions:
- Ceramic Engineering Plant composed of: Laboratory of Testing Raw and Ceramic Materials as well as Solid Oxide Fuel Cells Material Laboratory,
- Prototype Department including Mechanical Workshop and Technological–Constructional Workroom.
CEREL has been recently engaged in advanced research works concerning SOFCs (Solid Oxide Fuel Cells) and oxide membranes. CEREL is also involved in use of perovskites materials in manufacturing of oxide membranes with ink-jet printing method.
